Expedition: Heron Rookery

Tuesday, April 20, 2021

Did you know that Great Blue Herons make their nests way up in treetops, just like sparrows? Join this expedition to see them in person!
These groups of nests are called a rookery, and sometimes they can reach numbers of 135 nests in one location! They are amazing to see, and we want to give you the opportunity to visit one for yourself.
Dr. Nate Bosch is opening up one of his college labs to include a select number of community members. Participants will get a firsthand look at a local heron rookery, as well as get to listen in on Dr. Bosch’s expertise on ecology!
PLEASE NOTE: You will need to bring your own boots or chest waders for this event. If you do not have any, we have a select number of waders that can be borrowed if you send us your size in advance.
Special thanks to Zimmer Biomet for underwriting our series of expeditions!
