Expedition: Wetlands

Bring your family and join us at the Beyer Farm Trail to learn about wetlands and how important they are for clean water. We’ll talk about Warsaw’s water quality efforts, and sample for macroinvertebrates (otherwise known as water bugs!)

During the hike, Alex Hall (associate director at the Lilly Center) will discuss the stormwater mitigation efforts on Beyer Trail implemented by the City of Warsaw, and the importance of wetlands for water quality. Chuck Harvuot (from Indiana Master Naturalist) will end the tour with a look at macroinvertebrates found in the wetland and what they say about the health of that environment.

Meet at the Beyer Farm Trail parking lot (Provident Drive, Warsaw, IN 46580). Participants should be prepared to walk the length of the trail and back during the hike.

Special thanks to Zimmer Biomet for underwriting this and other Lilly Center Expeditions.
