Workshop: The Small Farm of the Future

Kosciusko County Soil & Water and the Lilly Center invite you to join us for this informative and interactive workshop! Dan Perkin will guide you through the fascinating world of sustainable agriculture, covering topics such as cover crops, intercropping techniques, and effective seeding practices for your gardens and fields.

Part II of this collaboration will be a visit to a local small farm. More details to come.

Speaker Bio

Dan Perkins, owner of Perkins’ Good Earth Farm, is recognized as the “Cover Crop Guy” in Northwest Indiana, where his farm employs sustainable practices such as no-till cultivation and permanent deep-compost beds. Certified organic, the farm specializes in growing 18,000 bulbs of hard-neck garlic and various produce. Operating through a 200-member CSA, an on-farm stand, a commercial kitchen, and local wholesale accounts, Perkins’ Good Earth Farm not only sustains a thriving business but also provides the community with fresh, organic produce. With over 16 years of experience in organic and conventional crop management across multiple states, including Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, and Indiana, Dan Perkins has cultivated a successful livelihood and a rewarding lifestyle for his family of six.
