The Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams is excited to welcome Emily Anderson to the team. In her new role as Education Coordinator, she will help advance the Lilly Center’s mission of developing water-literate K-12 students throughout Kosciusko County. 

“During her internship at the Lilly Center as an environmental science student, Emily honed her leadership abilities and emerged as an exceptional educator,” said Dr. Nate Bosch, Creighton Brothers Endowed Director of the Lilly Center. “Her passion for inspiring younger generations continues to shine through her work even after graduation. Emily’s skills and dedication are invaluable assets to our team, and we are eager to see the lasting impact she will have on the minds of young learners in our community.”

Emily spent four years at Grace College, where she pursued studies in Environmental Science and Pedagogy. In addition to her academic work, she dedicated her time to the Lilly Center’s education team. As a college intern, Anderson contributed by developing curriculum, assisting in the delivery of lessons for various educational programs, and leading indoor and outdoor field trips at the Lilly Center. As the new Education Coordinator, she will work together with the rest of the education staff to develop and write new curriculum, while mentoring college interns. 

“I am thrilled to continue working with the Lilly Center in this new role” says Emily. “As an educator, I am passionate about inspiring the next generation to care for and protect our lakes and streams. I’m excited to collaborate with our team to develop new curriculum that makes learning about water science engaging and impactful for students.”. 

By fostering water literacy among students, we are ensuring that Kosciusko County’s lakes and streams remain clean, healthy, and safe for generations to come. In the 2023-24 school year alone, the Lilly Center made over 10,000 connections with K-12 students across Kosciusko County, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to become stewards of our vital water resources.

The Lilly Center offers many educational programs that can enhance your student’s learning experience. From our Classroom Lake Experience to in-house field trips, we provide many opportunities for students to get hands-on, lake-science learning experience!
