It's your lake. What's your story?
Your Lake, Your Story tells the story of seven lakes from the perspective of 15 families that are much like yours.
After reading these books, you’ll know fascinating trivia (did you know in the infamous John Dillinger raided the Kosciusko County Jail?) and have home-grown recipes (we’re especially fond of Sally Springer’s oatmeal cookies!) Woven throughout, you’ll find original Lilly Center research about the lakes’ health.

Which book will you download?
Each is totally unique. Collect all five for a complete picture of Kosciusko County’s lake history, present and future.
Tell us about your lake property
We’re conducting a simple citizen science survey to help inform research on each of these seven lakes. If you own property on or near a lake, tell us about it! All responses will be kept anonymous.

Thriving shorelines lead to healthy lakes
One of the easiest ways to protect local lakes is to encourage practices that protect shorelines and lake habitats.
- Try using native plants in your landscaping.
- Dispose of yard waste the right way.
- Stay in at least 10 feet of water when operating your boat at speeds that create a wake.
