Lilly Center director Dr. Nate Bosch paid tribute to Omer Kropf and his impact on the Lilly Center and Syracuse Lake, home to the Kropf family for over 40 years.

“Omer was a practical guy, whether he was helping us with hangers for our chest waders to help them dry better or sampling the stream that flowed through his property himself so we could analyze the quality of that water going into the lake,” Bosch said. “He took our student field research team out sampling on Syracuse Lake for several years and funded tangible needs like our loading dock, vehicles, sand tables, research equipment, outdoor classroom, college student support, and Lake Rx most recently. Omer and Sue invited my wife, Amanda, and me to visit them in Arizona in 2023, where we enjoyed quality time together. Omer cared deeply about the lake and his family. In 2016, Omer shared how important caring for Syracuse Lake was to his family legacy. He said, ‘I’ll do anything to keep the family together.’ He and Sue cared about our family too, and they have been praying with us for our kids. He will be missed on the lake, but we will keep caring for this lake for future generations, as he wanted us to.”
