We may not have to survive off nuts all winter like the squirrels, but learning how to forage is a fun skill that may come in handy!

The final foraging event led by Carrie Vrabel will take place at Tri-County Fish and Wildlife area on Saturday, September 19. Carrie is a wild edible plant identification educator and certified Wild Mushroom Identification Expert. She will teach participants how to identify and collect late-season plants, roots, seeds, nuts, and fruits that grow along the trails. All experience levels are welcome to join!

This event will also explore traditional and modern ways people have used fall foraging to prepare for winter—covering storage, drying, and long-term use of wild foods. Participants will come away with a stronger knowledge of edible flora and the confidence to forage in the future! Plan on wearing comfortable, closed-toe shoes for walking. Light snacks will be provided!
