Expedition: Herpetology Hike
Join us for an exciting herpetology hike at Wildwood Nature Preserve! Get ready for an adventure as we explore the trails in search of herptiles—reptiles and amphibians—hidden within the preserve. This hike offers a fantastic opportunity to discover the fascinating world of these creatures while learning about their behaviors and natural habitats.
As we’ll be out in the evening, we recommend dressing warmly—this hike is bound to get chilly, so be sure to bundle up! Also, wear closed-toed shoes for comfort and safety on the trails. Each family will receive a reptile and amphibian pocket guide, to use during the hike. Red flashlights will be provided, but feel free to bring your own! Don’t miss this unique chance to connect with nature and deepen your knowledge of these incredible creatures!
Gavin King is the regional manager of the western service area for ACRES Land Trust, based out of Asherwood Nature Preserve. He and his wife, Jordyn, are also the caretakers of Wildwood Nature Preserve. In his spare time Gavin enjoys many different forms of outdoor recreation that involve exploring and learning more about nature. As a former interpretive naturalist, Gavin loves educating the public about our natural surroundings, especially on topics such as herpetology and invasive species.
