Workshop: Native Seed Collecting

Don’t let those seeds go to waste!

Join us at the Lilly Center for a native seed collecting workshop! This hands-on event will be led by Jacob Macke, local native plant expert and owner of Chapman Lake Nursery. He will teach participants how to collect seeds for the next growing season and how to winterize seeds to prepare for spring planting.

We will be using the native landscaping plants that surround the Lilly Center, which includes species like purple coneflower, swamp milkweed, and black-eyed Susans. Participants are encouraged to bring their own gardening shears, but extras will be available to use. A light brunch will be provided, so come hungry to eat food and learn new things!

Each person will leave with their own collection of native seeds and the knowledge needed to start their own garden in the spring!

This event is underwritten by City of Warsaw Stormwater Utility, DePuy Synthes, and Zimmer Biomet Foundation.
