Workshop: Porch Gardening
Calling all green thumbs! Gardening season is here, but not everyone has the space or time to create sprawling displays of plants and flowers across their lawn. Don’t let that stop you from pursuing your hobby!
Join the Lilly Center and Purdue Extension for a porch gardening workshop, which will focus on growing vegetables, flowers, and pollinator-friendly plants in various containers that are perfect for small spaces. This lecture-style workshop is designed for beginners and casual gardeners looking for practical, low-maintenance gardening options. Participants will receive advice on a range of topics such as container selection, plant choices, and basic gardening care. In addition, each person will get to take home a 10 gallon growing bag to get their own porch gardening off to a good start!
Potted plants are beautiful and beneficial for both humans and wildlife, especially native pollinator species! They act as natural pit stops for bees and butterflies, providing food and shelter for these important insects. The simple addition of potted plants is sure to brighten up any space you have, regardless of its size! This is the perfect event for amateur gardeners looking to grow their botanical skills without letting the plants grow out of control!
This event is underwritten by City of Warsaw Stormwater Utility, DePuy Synthes, and Zimmer Biomet Foundation.
